New Barancik Foundation president and CEO Teri A. Hansen has established a partnership between the foundation and the regional workforce development organization CareerEdge Funders Collaborative in a philanthropic effort to provide internships and job training to students and unemployed workers. Through a $250,000 gift from the Barancik Foundation, CareerEdge has the ability to provide training grants that will support regional growth and to create paid internships.

Center for Sight will perform more than 100 free cataract surgeries through the Mission Cataract program on July 8 and 15. This marks the 20th consecutive year that Center for Sight has provided the service.

USF Sarasota-Manatee received a $5,000 donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to be used for professional development programs at the University’s Career Services office. Additionally, many USF Sarasota-Manatee students intern at Enterprise, and some go on to find employment in the company’s management-trainee program. USFSM senior Dewaine Edwards also has started a collection drive for Resurrection House, Inc., partnering with student government chief of staff Geborah Joseph-Smith, founder of Bulls Who Believe.
