Good News Friday: Good Deeds - Nov. 20, 2015

Employees at S-One Holdings Corporation (sone.com) will contribute to the company’s annual food drive today, building creative displays using their donations of boxed and canned foods. Over the past two years, S-One has donated more than 5,400 pounds of food to All Faiths Food Bank. An All Faiths’ representative will be there to help judge the best displays.

 


 

Gulf Coast Community Foundation (gulfcoastcf.org) awarded Embracing Our Differences (embracingourdifferences.org) a $40,000 grant to help fund its 2016 exhibition season, which runs March 28 through May 31, 2016, in Sarasota’s Island Park. The grant will also provide vital resources for EOD’s Make-A-Day-of-It! program, which provides free bus transportation for thousands of students and teachers to visit the outdoor exhibits and other arts and cultural venues.

 


 

The Sarasota office of Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP (slk-law.com) has raised $6,000 this year to award to area nonprofit organizations. Leadership Shumaker Sarasota, the philanthropic arm of the Sarasota law firm, is awarding four $1,500 checks this month to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast, Child Protection Center Miracle League of Manasota and Safe Place Rape and Crisis Center.

 


 

The Tiny Hands Foundation (tinyhandsfoundation.org) donated more than 500 teddy bears to the Sarasota Police Department. The new teddy bear “officers” will ride with Sarasota police officers and will be handed out to children the officers encounter, especially kids who may be in distress.
