T-REC Junior Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day at The Children's Garden and Art Center

The team at The Sarasota Children's Garden will teach kids how to make an upcycled craft to celebrate Earth Day. The program is included with admission and free for garden members while supplies last.

Forest Bathing at Historic Spanish Point

Forest therapy, also known as ā€œforest bathingā€ (from the JapaneseĀ shinrin yoku), involves immersing yourself in nature through a leisurely walk with a professional forest therapy guide. You'll set off from White Cottage at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point campus, then walk along the nature trails and end with a special tea ceremony. Bring water and wear or carry anything you will need for comfort outdoors, including sunscreen, bug spray, hats, comfortable clothing and shoes. Tickets are $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Earth Day at Cat Depot

Celebrate Earth Day at Movies Under the Stars on Friday, April 25, with a free outdoor showing of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Arrive at 7 p.m. for face painting, character meet-and-greets, activities by Mote SEA and onsite concessions. The movie will begin after sunset, around 8 p.m., on The Green at UTC. Sarasota County Tree Giveaway

The City of Sarasota will host a tree giveaway this Friday and Saturday at the Bay Park in downtown Sarasota. City residents who are interested in taking home a free canopy tree will have the opportunity to select one of 100 trees, from 18 different species, provided by the city while supplies last. Enjoy hands-on, family-friendly free activities that honor nature, art and science. A variety of local organizations will be on-hand for this interactive event, including Architecture Sarasota, which will show you how to create your dream home incorporating design elements developed for the unique coastal environment in Sarasota; Art Center Sarasota, who will show you how to create a keepsake by pressing natural objects found at The Bay into air-dry clay; theĀ Sarasota Butterfly Club, who will teach participants about the butterfly lifecycle and offer a planting activity to encourage butterfly populations to thrive; Suncoast Waterkeeper, who will clean up and remove trash from the mangroves, bayou and shoreline of The Bay; and the City of Sarasota, who will participate in a tabling event showcasing on its various departments' environmental work.
