Last month, 302,189 passengers traveled through Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), compared to 126,704 passengers in January 2021—an increase of 138 percent and the highest number of passengers for the month of January in the history of SRQ. This is despite the fact that 282 flights were cancelled due to cold fronts across the U.S.; the airport says flight schedules are returning to normal as it prepares for its peak months of March and April. The passenger growth is expected to continue as airlines add new destinations—Allegiant Air will begin new nonstop service to Akron-Canton, OH, on March 3 and to Appleton, WI, on March 11.
