Let's Go Play Tennis at G.T. Bray Park

Hit the courts at G.T. Bray Park in Bradenton after you've enjoyed your Thanksgiving feast.

You've eaten your turkey, indulged in a post-feast nap and are ready to get moving. Challenge the family to a fun game of tennis at G.T. Bray park in Bradenton to enjoy some fresh air and burn off those extra (and totally worth it) turkey day calories.

Where

5502 33rd Ave. Drive W., Bradenton

When

Call ahead of time to reserve a tennis court. The park is open 5:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Clay court daily fees are $5.50 for youth and $9.50 for adults, and hard court daily fees are $3 for youth and adults. If you'd like to visit the courts more often, consider purchasing a tennis membership. Call (941) 742-5973 to make a reservation.

What to Bring

Bring tennis rackets and tennis balls with you. If you do not have either, you can purchase both at the tennis center's pro shop, or at a local sporting goods store. Bring a basket to pick up the balls, bottles of water and towels. Wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes.

What to Expect

G.T. Bray has seven hard courts and eight clay courts for players of all levels. The park also has pickleball and racquetball courts and a tennis practice wall. If you are wanting to practice solo, rent a ball machine that will automatically feed balls to you. Or, if you are looking for a tennis partner, sign up for the player's bank list, which will partner you up with singles and doubles players with similar experience.
