How Can Acupuncture And Integrated Medicine Improve Our Health?

“We focus on the integration of traditional Eastern medicine with innovative Western philosophies.”

Presented by Family Healing Center With Dr. Christina Captain, D.A.O.M., M.S.H.N., A.P. January 14, 2020

What kinds of health issues do you treat at the Sarasota Center for Acupuncture and Nutrition?
We practice acupuncture, which can treat everything from addictions and chronic pain to facial skin wrinkles and hormonal imbalances. Cupping, a therapy that draws skin and muscles up into a cup’s vacuum, can help reduce physical pain and respiratory disorders like bronchitis and asthma. Arthritis and gastrointestinal disorders may also benefit from cupping therapy. If you want to lose weight, we offer B-12 injections, as well as lipotropic formulations, to assist in burning fat and increasing metabolism. Personalized detoxification methods can also improve your metabolism and energy. Many disorders of the stomach and intestines, not to mention autoimmune issues, stem from our diet. This is why we create individual nutritional plans, including supplements and Chinese herbal medicine, that are focused on each patient’s needs. These are only a few of the health issues we treat. We recommend scheduling a consultation with us to see how we may be able to improve your well-being.

How is your approach to medicine different from a traditional doctor?
Because I have a doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM), as well as a master’s degree in Human Nutrition, I am uniquely equipped to approach my patients’ health concerns using alternative therapies coupled with my knowledge of traditional Western medicine. Besides using acupuncture as therapy or as a complement to other treatments, I also am trained in pain management and integrative cancer therapies. One of my certifications is advanced standing as a practitioner of the Jaffe Mellor Technique, an energy therapy treatment. I incorporate these and other treatments into my patient plans.
