What Do We Need to Know About Our Noses?

“The nose should be the center of your face, but not the center of attention.”

 What is a good-looking nose?

Healthy noses come in all shapes and sizes. Attractive faces do, too. As it turns out, the most pleasing faces are not defined by the nose. The nose should be the center of your face, but not the center of attention. An attractive nose should disappear when our attention is captivated by bright eyes, a beautiful smile, well-defined cheekbones and chiseled jawlines with smoothly textured skin. A nose that draws our attention away from these attributes becomes the center of attention. Thus, a good-looking nose is simply the center of one’s face.

“The nose should be the center of your face, but not the center of attention.”

If a balanced nose requires a harmonious face, how do I achieve this?

Getting the nose just right requires careful attention to both form and function as well as thoughtful consideration for the entire facial balance. It is quite common for rhinoplasty to be complemented by other related procedures such as chin surgery, neck lift, sub-mental fat removal; lip surgery, facial fillers or Botox.

Will rhinoplasty fix a deviated septum?

Many techniques can improve breathing and appearance of the nose, including septoplasty, a procedure to straighten a deviated septum. Alone, a septoplasty is a functional surgery, which improves nasal breathing and is typically covered by medical insurance. If combined with a cosmetic rhinoplasty, form and function are both enhanced.

What’s the best age to have rhinoplasty?

Adults and mature adolescents with fully-grown facial bones may have a rhino-plasty. Girls tend to mature faster than boys so waiting until the age of 16 for girls and 17 for boys is preferred for best results.
