Law firms don’t usually get a lot of love, but Williams Parker earned plenty. Out of 152 different companies nominated in our Professional Services category—a category that included PR firms, insurance agencies, wealth advisers, engineering firms and various business consultancies—Williams Parker landed on top.

Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. Founded in 1925, the firm has had plenty of time to gather votes. Its founder, JJ Williams Jr., left Memphis, Tenn., with his wife and three young kids when Florida’s Land Boom was still roaring. But it’s not just a century’s worth of work that’s put them up top. Williams Parker is a homegrown law firm, and Sarasota’s largest, and its 45 lawyers handle every kind of law—even the emerging legal world of AI—outside of criminal cases. “We’re honored and humbled,” says firm president Michael Wilson. “And it’s exceptional that it comes from the community.”
