Sarasota County Schools has announced that Jamie Hannon has been appointed principal of Southside Elementary School, effective immediately. Hannon has been serving as the school’s interim principal since July 2021.

Hannon received her bachelor’s degree in visual disabilities from Florida State University. She has a master’s degree in special education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education.

Prior to joining Southside Elementary School, Hannon served as the assistant principal of Fruitville Elementary School. She has also served as an assistant principal intern at Phillippi Shores Elementary School, an ESE liaison at Gulf Gate Elementary School, an itinerant teacher of the visually impaired through the school district’s Pupil Support Services department, and an orientation and mobility specialist through Pupil Support Services.
