One month into the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s annual Season of Sharing campaign, local donors have raised more than $1.7 million to help their neighbors cover crucial expenses, overcome crises and regain stability throughout Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. Additionally, The Patterson Foundation has provided an additional $300,000 so far in this year’s campaign.

Those who need help are able to request support from Season of Sharingfunds all year long to address immediate basic needs, such as rental assistance, utility bills, child care, and transportation. A wide network of more than 50 social services agencies administers payments to landlords, utility providers, and others on behalf of families and individuals in crisis. Since its inception 21 years ago, Season of Sharing has distributed more than $31 million to more than 38,000 local families. Donations can be made throughout the year here.
