Sarasota County Schools Announces National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Twenty-nine local students have been named semifinalists.

Sarasota County Schools has announced that 29 students have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The National Merit program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school juniors entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. From the approximately 16,000 semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level.
