Sarasota City, County Offices Closed Today

Most city and county government offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Most Sarasota city and county government offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.

Sarasota County

The following county offices and services will be closed

Sarasota County Government offices.

The Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) administration office and downtown transfer station customer service window. (There will not be regular SCAT bus services or SCAT Plus services.)

Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources recreation facilities.

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.

Sarasota County's Chemical Collection Centers (8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota and 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice) will be closed and the Citizens' Convenience Center (4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis) will also be closed.

The administration offices at the Central County Landfill, 4000 Knights Trail Road, and the Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road. In addition, The Re-Uz-It Shop will be closed.

All trash, recycling and yard waste collection services will be delayed by one day due to the holiday. Curbside collection will run as follows: Monday, Sept. 6: no collection services; Tuesday, Sept. 7: collection for Monday customers; Wednesday, Sept. 8: collection for Tuesday customers; Thursday, Sept. 9: collection for Wednesday customers; Friday, Sept. 10: collection for Thursday customers; Saturday, Sept.11: collection for Friday customers. In addition, the Central County Landfill is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, but the construction and demolition facility will close at 2 p.m.

The Siesta Key Breeze and Sarasota County OnDemand service will operate normal hours Sept. 6.

City of Sarasota

City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day.

There will be no residential garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup on Monday. The following pickups will be delayed by one day: Monday collection will occur on Tuesday, and Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday collection will not be interrupted. There will also be no commercial garbage collection Monday. Solid Waste staff will coordinate with commercial customers to adjust their individual collections accordingly.

Hours of operation at recreation and cultural arts facilities for Sept. 6 will vary:

The regular City Commission meetings will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, and Wednesday, Sept. 8, both beginning at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
