Phase II construction of the Cattlemen Road Improvements Project is set to begin in mid-October. The Sarasota County Board of County Commission awarded the construction contract to Cobb Site Development, Inc.

Phase II includes widening Cattlemen Road to four lanes, from Celery Lane to South Packinghouse Road; widening Palmer Boulevard from west of Jakl Avenue to the Interstate-75 overpass; and reconstructing South Packinghouse Road from Cattlemen Road to south of Palmer Boulevard. The project also includes the installation of curbs and gutters, closed drainage systems, street lighting, sidewalk and bicycle lanes, water, and sewer utility adjustments, and traffic signal upgrades.

Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-October 2021 and last through fall 2022.
