After a unanimous 4-0 at last night's Sarasota city commission special meeting, the John Ringling Causeway Bridge light up for Pride Month. This decision comes after weeks of debate between the City of Sarasota  and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), which maintains the Ringling Bridge and originally denied the city's request to light the bridge in rainbow colors. The bridge will be lit tonight, June 22, through June 28, and the lighting configuration will be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.

Mayor Hagen Brody, who convened the meeting, said he is excited about the lighting and hopes that it will “lift spirits in tough times.”
