Center for Victims of Child Abuse to be Built in Sarasota
The All Star Children's Foundation will have a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15 for its All Star Children's Foundation Center, 3308 17th Street, Sarasota. The 5-acre campus will provide a healing setting for children who have entered the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.
The All Star Children's campus will include a 12,000 square foot building that houses treatment and therapy programs, a learning lab, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital research and development program staff, a children's boutique and an aquarium. The heart of the campus includes six single-family style foster homes that can accommodate individual children as well as siblings. There will also be a community recreation center, playground, an outdoor theater, picnic areas, and a community garden.
The intention of co-founders Dennis and Graci McGillicuddy, and their many donors and supporters, is to deliver a program that can be replicated elsewhere, will impact local, state and national policy and transform foster care.
