Gala season is in full swing.

On Saturday, April 1, Forty Carrots Family Center’s Firefly Gala will be presented by the Dart Foundation at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club, 15150 70th Terrace E., Bradenton. The fundraising gala features a full-scale private concert, gourmet dinner and auction. This year’s headline performer is Flo Rida, was raised by a single mother in Miami’s Carol City neighborhood. The event begins at 6 p.m.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County's Season of Sharing campaign recently reached the $1 million mark in fundraising, triggering a second $100,000 contribution from The Patterson Foundation. The Patterson Foundation will make additional $100,000 contributions for every $500,000 raised during the campaign. There is no cap on the total contribution.

Main Street at Lakewood Ranch announced this week that it helped more than 60 area nonprofits raise more than $800,000 in 2016. The events ranged from car shows to parades, and from bike races to the monthly Music on Main concert series. That total has increased steadily from $591,000 in 2012.

The MSC Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation established by Michael Saunders & Company, awarded $41,200 in grants to 46 organizations serving Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties on Thursday. Since its establishment in 2011, the MSC Foundation has given more than $401,000 to more than 135 organizations.

Overturf's Floor & Fabric Care recently presented a check for $100 to Just for Girls to provide a full week of before and after school programs for two girls in need. For each new "like" Overturf's received on its Facebook page, it made an additional donation to Just for Girls. At the end of the week it had received enough new likes to make a donation of $100.

Gorilla Kleen employees spent several hours this past weekend beautifying one of the Child Protection Center's office buildings, located at 720 S. Orange Ave., Sarasota.

The local homebuilder Neal Communities will be the presenting sponsor for the Loveland Center’s 20th Annual Boca Royale Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 21. Benefiting the Loveland Center, a nonprofit that provides educational, vocational and residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, Neal Communities’ in-kind donation totals $10,000.

The Manatee Education Foundation is hosting its 10th Annual HeArt & Soul Gala & Live Art Auction at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Manatee Performing Arts Center, 502 Third Ave. W., Bradenton.

The Junior League of Sarasota is hosting its 15th annual Legacy Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 1, featuring speaker Sam Haskell. Haskell was an agent to clients such as George Clooney, Dolly Parton and Whoopi Goldberg. He is also a philanthropist and author. The luncheon begins at 11 .m. at Michael's on East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. Tickets are $125.

Goodwill Manasota is holding its annual Mardi Gras Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Michael's on East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. The event features Cajun food, an open bar, a live auction, New Orleans music and dancing. Tickets are $175.
