The local nonprofit Women’s Sports Museum on Tuesday announced its intention to build an all-women’s sports museum in Sarasota. The museum’s mission is to present and preserve historical documents, artifacts and personal recollections of the participants, reporters, fans, families and friends of all those dedicated to excellence in women’s sports. It will also promote and recognize the achievements of women in sports by establishing and maintaining a place for their accomplishments to be admired, studied and experienced. An initial capital campaign event for the museum will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota.
