The National Association of Home Builders' single-family 55-plus Housing Market Index increased one point to 57 in the second quarter of this year, the ninth consecutive quarter with a reading above 50. An index number above 50 indicates that more builders view conditions as good than poor. The Market Index is based on a survey of home builders that asks if current sales, prospective buyer traffic and anticipated six-month sales are good, fair or poor.
