Port Manatee recently welcomed the M/V Queen B, the new containership in World Direct Shipping’s cross-gulf service to Mexico. The 430-foot-long ship, which has a capacity of 700 20-foot-equivalent container units and 128 refrigerated cargo plugs, will travel between Port Manatee and the port of Coatzacoalcos, in the southern part of the Mexican state of Veracruz. Since it began in November 2014, World Direct Shipping's weekly service has carried refrigerated produce from Mexico while returning from Port Manatee with paper, recycled materials and oversized cargos.
