Lifeguards from around the state will compete for medals at the U.S. Lifesaving Association Southeast Region Lifeguard Championships, which will be held at Siesta Beach from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, and Friday, July 15. The competition is free to attend. Competitions include a surfboat race, Ironman and Ironwoman, a surf ski race, a run-swim-run race and more. A team representing Sarasota County will be among the lifeguards participating.
