Report Finds More Homes at Risk From Hurricane Storm Surge

Hurricane Dennis in 1999
According to new research conducted by CoreLogic and disseminated by Florida Realtors, "more U.S. homes are at risk of hurricane storm surge damage this year, and the price of reconstruction to damaged homes is expected to rise." According to a Florida Realtors blog post on the topic, more than "6.8 million homes on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts face potential risk from hurricane storm surge damage this year, with an anticipated total reconstruction cost value of around $1.5 trillion." Florida, unsurprisingly, ranked as the state with the highest number of homes at risk. Bradenton ranked eighth in a list of the metropolitan areas most at risk.
