Sarasota County will host six open houses to address changes to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's floodplain maps, which take effect Nov. 4. The open houses, which will be held in different locations between June 20 and 29, will feature staff members from both the county and municipalities and are an opportunity to ask questions about potential changes to the flood zone. If a risk zone has changed, flood insurance may be required by a homeowner's lender when the new flood maps become effective on Nov. 4.
