The National Association of Home Builders' Housing Market Index rose 2 points from 58 in May to 60 in June, the highest reading since January. The index gauges builder sentiment about the demand for the single-family housing market in the U.S. and is based on a survey that has been mailed to a panel of builders every month since January 1985. The survey asks builders to rate housing market conditions based on their experiences. Since 2009, the highest index recorded was 65, reported last October.
