Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Sarasota, this week voted for bipartisan legislation intended to broaden the availability of private flood insurance. The Flood Insurance Market Parity and Modernization Act (H.R. 2901) was created to ensure that private insurance is a viable option for homeowners in Florida and across the country. The legislation passed the U.S. House with unanimous, bipartisan support; it now goes to the Senate for consideration.
