After weeks of speculation, Medallion Home founder Carlos Beruff officially launched his Republican campaign for the U.S. Senate on Monday, with events in Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando and Manatee County. "We believe in creating our own damn jobs," Beruff said in an introductory YouTube video released last week. "Government doesn't create jobs. It creates dependency. It just takes." In the clip, he argues that federal taxes are too high and that regulations are "strangling small business." Beruff joins a Republican race that already includes U.S. Reps. Ron DeSantis and David Jolly and Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera.
