Café L’Europe’s Community Monday Night program benefits local nonprofits by donating 25 percent of the sales accrued during dinner at the St. Armands Circle restaurant next Monday, Aug. 17. Community members are encouraged to call ahead for reservations, (941) 388-4415, and let the restaurant know which organization they are dining for.



The Humane Society of Sarasota County has recognized attorney Scott Westheimer, a managing partner with Syprett Meshad, for his volunteerism and pro bono services that total close to $100,000.



Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, Inc. received a $22,500 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to be used for technology upgrades throughout the organization’s office and ReStores.



Nathan Maciejowski, a wealth adviser and branch manager at the Sarasota office of Cleveland-based Redwood Financial Network, contributed to Suncoast Charities for Children through his sponsorship of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix.



Stonegate Charitable Foundation, established by Florida-based Stonegate Bank, announced that it has awarded five Sarasota County high school graduates each with a $1,000 college scholarship. A total of $40,000 was awarded to students across eight Florida counties: Sarasota, Broward, Collier, Hillsborough, Lee, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Pinellas.




Sarasota Ballet is earning accolades this week for its performances at Jacob’s Pillow Dance, the longest-running international dance festival taking place in Becket, Mass., marking the Company’s debut appearance.








Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s founder and director Nate Jacobs received the national Larry Leon Hamlin Producer Award during the National Black Theatre Festival. Additionally, WBTT was invited to present four performances of Soul Crooners 2 during the Festival, which took place in Winston-Salem, N.C. from Aug. 3-8.
