Florida Studio Theatre received a $100,000 contribution toward the $1.3 million Palm Avenue Project from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation to assist with the renovation of the historic Keating Theatre’s terrace and restrooms. The Palm Avenue Project encompasses extensive renovations to the historic Keating Theatre, Goldstein Cabaret, and Sudakoff Theatre Wing, to ready the theater for its next growth phase.

 


 

The Sarasota Music Club awarded a total of $12,000 in 2015 music education scholarships to four graduating high school students and donated $500 to the Booker High School VPA Music Department for assistance with scholarship auditions. Combined with $8,500 the Club distributed to 10 area music performance and education organizations in honor of its 85th anniversary, a total of $21,000 was contributed to help promote music education and perforamnce.


 

Farlow’s on the Water in Englewood recently hosted “Party for a Cause,” featuring Jim Morris and his Big Bamboo Band, which raised $10,125 for the Englewood Community Care Clinic.

 


 

Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities, Inc. was recently awarded $10,000 from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to assist with general operating expenses.

 


 

The Florida Winefest & Auction, Inc., a nonprofit that provides funding to qualified charitable organizations for programs assisting disadvantaged children, youth and families in Sarasota and Manatee counties, awarded $200,000 to local nonprofits this year, bringing its total funding to more than $8.1 million. Recipients were Child Protection Center, Inc.; Children First; Community Coalition on Homelessness d/b/a Turning Points; Community Haven for Adults & Children with Disabilities, Inc.; Community Youth Development of Sarasota County, Inc.; Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County; Every Child, Inc.; Everyday Blessings, Inc.; Exchange Club Family Partnership Center of Manatee County, Inc.; Family Promise of Sarasota, Inc.; Feeding Empty Little Tummies, Inc. (F.E.L.T.); Forty Carrots of Sarasota, Inc. d/b/a Forty Carrots Family Center; Foundation for Dreams, Inc.; HOPE Family Services, Inc.; Laurel Civic Association, Inc.; Manatee County Girls Club, Inc. d/b/a Just for Girls; Mothers Helping Mothers, Inc.; Police Athletic League of Manatee County; Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy, Inc. (SMART); Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County; Teen Court of Sarasota, Inc.; The Health Support Network d/b/a Center for Building Hope; The Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County, Inc.; The Tiny Hands Foundation, Inc.; and Volunteer Services of Manatee County, Inc.
