Bruce Wolfson took over as CEO of Tervis Tumbler last December after working as a consultant for the company for several years. Formerly he was the president and CEO of Flexible Products Co., a manufacturer of specialty chemical products. His main goals are to manage the double-digit growth of the company, launch new products and extend the company’s drinkware to a wider audience, especially to a younger, active consumer. “Tervis is all about on-the-go active people,” he says. The company launched a new, fresh logo to make its point. - Patricia Abduragimova
Rachel Noyes, SCORE coach Jon Stuart, Justin Noyes.
Husband-and-wife Justin Noyes, an illustrator, and Rachel VanAtta Noyes, a jewelry designer, won the Business of the Year award from Manatee SCORE for the success of their four-year-old business, The Hive Creations, a collection of handmade jewelry, artwork, clothing and décor. In a down economy, the couple doubled their space and now sell the work of 300 artists around the world. Meeting with a SCORE volunteer helped them create the right business plan and secure a loan; Facebook, super-fast online customer service and regular electronic updates and e-newsletters keep them in touch with their customers. “We don’t take a day off; we’re persistent,” says Rachel. - Patricia Abduragimova
