Lip and Hand Cream

Our grandmothers were on to something when they trusted nourishing lanolin for hydration of dry lips, cuticles, hands and more. I am crazy about two lanolin-laden products from Lano--the 101 Lip Ointment is a super-dense balm that holds 200 percent of its weight in moisture. And, since it's multi-purpose, you can also use it for dry lips, skin patches and cuticles.

And for dry hands and nails, there's the rose hand cream, which smells like an English spring garden. This intense antioxidant-filled cream is chock-full of triple lanolin, which closely resembles the skin's own lipids--and it leaves a soothing veil for continual moisture.

Get it: Lano Lips $17; Lano Hands $20.

OK, full disclosure: I had doubts that this new dental gel could possibly live up to the tagline "next-generation oral care." I mean, it seems like other than whitening, there haven't been any innovative strides in toothpaste, right? Errrr, wrong. Livionex Dental Gel is a not only a non-abrasive, powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidant that promotes healthy teeth, it was also 2.5 times more effective at cleaning teeth than the leading toothpaste in a double-blind study. Get ready for an astonishingly clean mouth that feels like you've had your teeth professionally cleaned. Seriously.

Face Mask

To me, a mask is the extra credit of skin care, and this one from Dr. Brandt is a new favorite--and it's magnetic. It recharges and rejuvenates the skin by leveraging magnetic iron particles that draw out toxins and daily residue, all while aromatherapeutic lavender soothes the senses. Black tourmaline, a powerful mystic stone known as one of nature’s most energizing minerals, is ground into the finest powder to neutralize negative energy and boost positivity, rendering skin radiant. And, in my experience, shockingly smooth. Like velvet.

Body Oil + Scrub

I'm addicted to body oils--I particularly love how they are fast-absorbing, hydrating and nourishing. Thanks to the in-the-know women at Bluemercury downtown -- they put this one by Natura Bissé on my radar -- it's made up of super ingredients like quinoa, chia, spirulina and artichoke. It prevents dehydration, boosts moisture and improves elasticity, leaving the skin smooth and soft with revitalizing aromatic properties--perfect for after sun.

Also, I must mention Natura Bissé's C+C Vitamin Scrub--it's a non-abrasive, fresh, citrus-y body scrub that eliminates the impurities and dead skin cells that asphyxiate the skin. The formula includes rosa mosqueta seeds, exfoliating micro-sponges with bamboo and bitter orange extract, as well as lava micro-particles obtained from the volcanoes on the Mediterranean islands of Lipari. And the scent is a deliciously light and refreshing enticing citrus aroma.

Get it: BLUEMERCURY: Natura Bissé Oxygen Perfecting Oil, $65.; Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Body Scrub: $69.; Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Scrub, $69.

Supergoop's SuperPower Sunscreen Mousse SPF 50 is my new go-to sunscreen--primarily because it so easy to apply. It's the first-ever sunscreen in a mousse formula, and it's a super-hydrating oil based whip of shea, olive and avocados. Not only is it light as air, it's quick-absorbing and water resistant.

Get it: Supergoop! SuperPower Sunscreen Mousse, $34.

Body Oil

Not to be a broken record here, but I really do love a body oil--and this one, by Naples Soap Company, is the perfect refresh for after a workout, or a pick-me-up spray for the up-coming summer days. And it's so moisturizing, thanks to an ingredient list that includes coconut oil, rice bran oil, jojoba oil, red raspberry seed oil and baobab oil.

Shaving Cream

And a bonus that's worth mentioning for the fellas--Naples Soap Company's coconut water shave cream and natural shaving brush. My husband gave it a go; here's the review in his own words:

"Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised by my first experiment with this shaving cream (and the recommended brush). I currently use gel/foam from a can that I spray onto my hand and rub on my face with my fingers. When I opened the bottle of this cream, it looked quite solid to me. I was concerned that it would be too thick to easily apply to my face with the brush. I also figured that the brush would not be easy to use around my goatee. I was wrong on both counts.

"The cream’s consistency is firm. But it was very easy to apply. And it was much better to use the brush than it was my fingers. It spread the cream a lot more evenly and smoothly. I ended up using far less cream than I normally do. The brush was efficient and easy to maneuver around my facial hair. My razor reacted well to the cream, giving me a close cut with no nicks. And the cream smells great and feels very good on my skin.  I’m looking forward to using it again tomorrow!"
