Editor's note: Caragiulos originally announced an Oct. 26 closing date but the restaurant will remain open longer at its Palm Avenue location due to "unforeseen delays" at the new Ringling Boulevard spot.
After 36 years in its South Palm Avenue location, Caragiulos Italian-American Restaurant just announced its final night of service there will be extended by a few weeks.
But fear not, Caragiulos loyalists: the restaurant is reopening in a new location on Ringling Boulevard in January.
Founded in 1989 by patriarch Tony Caragiulo and his sons, Caragiulos is the flagship eatery in the family's portfolio, which also includes Owen’s Fish Camp and Veronica Fish and Oyster. It specializes in Italian American-style pizzas and pastas, and has amassed a cult following over its nearly 40-year tenure.
The brand-new space is a 4,300-square-foot restaurant that seats 150 people. We hear you’ll still be able to order all of your old favorite dishes—and maybe a few new ones, too.
“Restaurants are about storytelling,” Paul Caragiulo, one of Tony's sons and a co-owner of the restaurant, told us in January of this year. “We’re bringing our story to a new location, but the heart of what makes Caragiulos special will always be there.”

Leading up to the restaurant’s final night, everyone who dines in the next few weeks will receive a raffle ticket for items like gift baskets and artwork. Winners will be drawn on Friday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 26. Stay tuned for an official opening date for the new restaurant.
Caragiulos Italian American Restaurant is currently located at 69 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota. It's new location opens in January 2026 at 1833 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. For more information, click here.
