Another year, another big win for local ice cream maker Yoder’s Southern Creamery. Late last year, the North American Ice Cream Association, an organization dedicated to all things, well, ice cream, recognized the creamery with awards in several categories.

Hundreds of ice cream business owners traveled to the association’s annual trade show at the end of 2022 to learn more about the industry and compete in ice cream flavor and quality competitions. Participants and attendees refer to the gathering as "Conecon."

Yoder’s Southern Creamery swept the non-dairy segment of the competition, winning overall Flavor of the Year for its toasted coconut flavor, as well as second place Flavor of the Year in the non-dairy breakfast category for its cinnamon streusel coffee cake flavor. The creamery was also awarded third place in the overall non-dairy Flavor of the Year category for its peppermint cane ice cream.

Yoder's also won red and blue ribbons for its traditional vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors.

Want to sample the local creamery’s award-winning ice cream for yourself? Pop into Main Street Creamery in downtown Sarasota or swing by your local Detwiler’s Farm Market for a pint to-go.
