The much-loved ice cream maker Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams was all set to open in a space near the University Town Center mall last summer. Then, of course, the Covid-19 pandemic happened, and the opening was pushed back until, well, now. The shop is now open at 190 N. Cattlemen Road, No. 4, Sarasota.

Jeni’s has dozens of locations around the country, including two in Tampa. The company is known for its high-quality ingredients and unique flavors, like Buttercream Birthday Cake and Goat Cheese With Red Cherries.

“We couldn't be more excited to be opening our first scoop shop in Sarasota,” says Jeni's founder Jeni Britton Bauer. “And I love the design of this shop so much. We don’t always have so much room to work with, but we took full advantage and loaded the shop with as much color and seating for gathering (when we can all do so again safely) as possible. We’re thrilled to be part of the community at University Town Center.”
