Sydney Gruters, a wife and mother of two young children with a long career in local politics and government, has recently added another title to her résumé: Rodan + Fields Anti-aging Skincare Line independent consultant. Her new venture means shedding her conservative 9 a.m.-5 p.m. business attire for something fresh and vibrant.
SYDNEY’S GOAL “I want to get out of the easy routine of wearing black and gray all the time and become more confident with colors, while still feeling pulled together and polished.”
JACKIE’S GOAL “Sydney looks fabulous in rich colors and hues, so getting her into a bright, on-trend outfit was my goal. Sydney should reflect her new business’s brand with a polished appearance for hosting skincare parties and speaking with women about her new anti-aging skincare line. I chose this dazzling blue blouse not only for its bold color, but also for its soft shape and wrap-style front that shows off Sydney’s waistline beautifully. To counterbalance the blouse’s soft flow, I selected a patterned cotton skirt that fit close to the body to highlight Sydney’s silhouette and show off her legs. Adding a chunky necklace to pick up the colors in the skirt adds balance and interest to the outfit while breaking up the bold blue. Brian from Fresh Salon cut three inches off her hair to add volume and give her a fresh style.”
SYDNEY’S TAKE “I feel amazing. Jackie picked items I would never normally look at and they worked for me. This taught me to think outside the box and not to judge a shirt or dress from the hanger. Now I have a better idea of how to incorporate color into my everyday wardrobe.”
