Sailor Circus: Season’s Greetings
For more than 70 years, Sarasota area students aged 8-18 have performed their amazing feats for the public, and Covid-19 is not stopping this year’s holiday show. It’s set to take place at the Sailor Circus Arena on Bahia Vista Street, and will include all the flying, flipping, acrobatic derring-do and fun that audiences have come to expect. Celebrate the New Year with this online streaming version of the traditional holiday concert filled with singing, dancing and full orchestra the Van Wezel has presented so often on its stage. The Ringling: For Real This Time

Just opened, this exhibit in the John and Mable Ringling Museum's Monda Gallery presents video-based works by artists related to social justice issues and the current state of American society, examining attitudes towards race and inequality. First up is Deanna Bowen's sum of the parts: what can be named, 2010, through Jan.7; it's followed by video pieces by Allison Janae Hamilton, John Sims, Cauleen Smith, Martine Syms, Kara Walker and Bear Witness.
