The 17th annual Dick Vitale Gala at the Ritz raised a very cool $11 million-plus, meaning that since its inception $55 million has been raised to support the Dick Vitale Foundation for Pediatric Cancer of the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Among those honored during the event were NFL superstar Keyshawn Johnson, tennis star Chris Evert, Baylor University's men's basketball coach Scott Drew, and ESPN's Rod Gilmore—like Dickie V himself, a cancer survivor—who received the V Foundation's John Saunders Courage Award.
