Present for the unveiling, which took place Wednesday afternoon at the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce headquarters on Fruitville Road, were Chamber president and CEO Heather Kasten, Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County executive director Jim Shirley, Mayor Hagen Brody, mural artist Matt Myers and others involved in the project. The two new murals, both 30 feet high, dominate the west and east walls of the building and display colorful local flora and fauna, along with such notable figures in our history as John and Charles Ringling, Bertha Palmer, A.B. Edwards, Lewis Colson, Owen Burns, Rose Wilson, John Hamilton Gillespie and Emma E. Booker.
