State of Community Series: Amendment 2 ($15/Hour Minimum Wage)

Tuesday, Oct. 6, 11:00am – 12:00pm, virtual 

The Chamber and the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance will host a virtual, interactive discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. with John Horne, owner and president of Anna Maria Oyster Bar. Horne will speak on the opposition side of the proposed Amendment 2 changes, which would incrementally increase the minimum wage of Florida workers from $8.56 per hour to $15 per hour by 2026. Power Hour Lunch (PHL): Palm Aire Country Club

Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, 11:45 a.m.- 1 p.m. (in-person; limited space)

At this event, each attendee will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and give a short “elevator speech” about their business. Attendees will be socially distanced at each table.  Masks and hand sanitizer will be available.  The event is limited to 30 people, and pre-registration and menu selection is required. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, 9-10 a.m., virtual

Author and business owner Joey Brannon of Axiom Strategic Consulting will help attendees learn to grow their businesses' reach, influence, and mission in 2021. Topics include prioritizing business for the last days of 2020; non-negotiable elements of strategic leadership and culture; how strategy eliminates the distractions that make real growth possible; and why 90 percent of companies fail to make progress. Chamber Sporting Clays at Sarasota Trap, Skeet & Clay's (In-person event)

Friday, October 30, 2020, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Join the Chamber for a day of sport and networking at its 2020 Sporting Clays Tournament. Registration includes is $525 for a team of four of $150 per individual and includes lunch, lessons for beginners and novices, warm-up shoot, beverages, and prizes.
