There are all sorts of livestream opportunities in local arts right now, and here’s one from some of the musical theater artists who form part of the cast of Asolo Rep’s rescheduled world premiere of Knoxville.

Asolo Rep will present a Facebook and YouTube presentation of A Night at the Bluebird Café Wednesday, April 8, as part of its Ground Floor Series. The series, designed to consist of one-performance only events, had its inaugural performance in early March, but the other events of the series had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 virus.

Now, however, in the style of the Nashville music venue The Bluebird Café, seven actor/singer/songwriters from the Knoxville cast will present an intimate and unique performance including several original songs. Viewers can enjoy the event from their living rooms as the artists each broadcast from theirs; they include Sara Aili, Hannah Elless, Nathan Salstone, Joel Waggoner and special guests Matt Szlachetka and Micaela Diamond.

Asolo Rep associate artistic director Celine Rosenthal says, “When we found out we were going to have to cancel [the Ground Floor performances] in order to help stop the spread of the virus, we thought that was the end. But this fantastic group of artists has come together to keep the music playing and in a way that really captures the intimacy and communal nature of the original format.”

Access the livestream by visiting the Asolo Rep Facebook page (facebook.com/AsoloRep) where the video will appear at the top of the page starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8.

Viewers can also watch on Asolo Rep’s YouTube Live by visiting https://www.youtube.com/user/asolorep

And Asolo Rep will also post a recording of the broadcast on its Facebook and YouTube channels.
