Sarasota Bradenton International Airport announced today that it lost the entirety of its roof over Concourse B during Hurricane Milton. The roof covers the screening checkpoint all 13 aircraft loading gate hold rooms.

For the safety of its passengers, SRQ will remain closed to all commercial-service flights until Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m.

The airport is working with recovery contractors to replace the 76,000-square-foot roof with a temporary roof until permanent repairs can be made. Additionally, the gate areas are undergoing clean-up and remediation work due to water intrusion after the roof was damaged.

The storm blew extensive roof debris onto the aircraft ramp.

Airport rental car counters located in the baggage claim opened today, Oct. 11, at noon. Check directly with rental car companies for onsite availability. Airport parking lots are open and operational for individuals who need to access their vehicles.

The airfield also resumed operations for general aviation flights today at noon, although there is no fuel availability at this time.
