Here's a fun—and unique—idea for a great Valentine's Day gift: make your very own chocolate at the Suncoast Science Center/Faulhaber Fab Lab.

Using the Fab Lab’s brand-new Formech V450 DT vacuum former machine, attendees—ahem, we mean budding master chocolatiers—can transform 3D printed objects into a custom, vacuum-formed Valentine’s Day chocolate mold. The Fab Lab will offer an assortment of 3D printed and found objects to transform into chocolates, including robots, LEGO pieces, hearts, stars, nuts and bolts, animals and more. After creating a mold, participants will choose their favorite type of chocolate to add to it for a custom confection that's totally unique.

Interested? Hour-long sessions are happening from 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12. Registration is $35 and includes up to three guests and one mold tray, which provides space for up to 20 chocolates. At the end of their time slot, participants will be given their molds to take home to continue filling time and time again. (Want to create more than one mold tray? Reserve multiple slots.) No experience is required, just a willingness to explore and have fun.

Happy chocolate making!
