Sarasota Orchestra Great Escapes

Be Mine. Conductor Sarah Hicks leads the musicians on excerpts from romantic tales like Gone with the Wind, Carmen, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and more, Feb. 9-13 at Holley Hall. For tickets, (941) 953-3434 or sarasotaorchestra.org

The Four Phantoms in Concert

The “Phantoms” of this appearance—Brent Barrett, John Cudia, Franc D’Ambrosio and Ciaran Sheehan—have all starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, along with plenty of other stage credits; they know how to put over a great love song. Swoon to their vocals at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. (941) 263-6799 or vanwezel.org

Gladys Knight

Also at the Van Wezel, at 8 p.m. Feb. 15, Knight delivers some of her soulful hits from over the decades, like “If I Was Your Woman,” “Midnight Train to Georgia” and others destined to touch the heart. (941) 263-6799 or vanwezel.org

Tosca

A great love story (albeit a tragic one) told in song with Puccini’s opera, onstage at the Sarasota Opera House starting Feb. 12 and running through March 19. (941) 328-1300 or sarasotaopera.org

Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith: Flowers, Poetry and Light

Longtime lovers, friends and artistic collaborators Smith and Mapplethorpe are represented in this exhibition at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, opening Feb. 13 to run into June. A stroll through the gardens and their works may kindle a spark. (941) 366-5731 or selby.org

Grand Horizons

This comedy about a couple wed 50 years and on the verge of divorce may make you re-evaluate your own marriage, but in a good way. Onstage at Asolo Rep in rotating rep, through April 1. (941) 351-8000 or asolorep.org

Say "I Do" Again

You have at least two chances put on your own show by renewing your wedding vows and telling your spouse you’d do it all over again on Feb. 14—one at Siesta Beach and one at Nokomis Beach. Each ceremony begins with check-in at 4:30 p.m. and vows at sunset, and you should register by Feb. 7 to pay a reduced fee. For more info, (941) 861-5000 or scgov.net/parks
