Nothing launches the holiday season like a stroll through Marie Selby Botanical Gardens' annual Lights in Bloom. Now in its 21st year, the holiday light show has long been a Christmastime must-do.

The 15-acre historic property partners with Affairs in the Air (best known for transforming spaces for parties and galas) to install more than 2 million lights across the gardens' grounds. Guests can snag a photo in the many twinkling tunnels, admire Sarasota Bay beyond flashy flamingo sculptures and "ooh" and "aah" at blinking butterflies in the banyan trees. Even Selby's pathways gleam, thanks to thousands of electric votives lining the sidewalks that make your stroll feel cozy with the candles' warm glow.

Michael's on East, the gardens' exclusive culinary partner, sells snacks and drinks to enjoy while wandering the grounds, and you'll also catch a few other local vendors along the way. Selby's on-site restaurant The Green Orchid is also open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for attendees interested in a sit-down experience.

Lights in Bloom is on display nightly from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 1534 Mound St., Sarasota. The exhibit is closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 31. For tickets, click here.
