Whether you're a fashion or photography enthusiast  (or both!), the Horst P. Horst exhibit at The Dalí Museum is a must-see this summer. Horst's extraordinary career, which spanned more than six decades, puts him in the company of iconic names like Irving Penn and Richard Avedon as one of the last century’s leading photographers.  Horst set industry standards decade after decade, from his use of dramatic light and shadow to color contrasts. 

The 180 works in the exhibition, titled Horst Photographs: Fashion and Surrealism, was curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London specifically for this special collaboration with The Dalí. The extensive and multi-media galleries include a spectacular showing of original vintage photographs, sketches, films, letters, cameras and large-scale color prints made for the exhibition.  But it's not just fashion (with the likes of Chanel and Schiaparelli)--Horst's avant-garde style includes portraiture, nude studies, interiors and still-life photography.

Susanna Brown, curator of photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum, says, “We are delighted to collaborate with The Dali to bring this major Victoria and Albert exhibition to the U.S. The Dali’s spectacular galleries and collection provide the perfect context in which to explore the influence Surrealist art had on Horst’s photography and the wider world of fashion and design.”
