The Sarasota Square Mall vaccination clinic is set to permanently close on Thursday, June 24. Vaccinations will still be available beginning Friday, June 25 at the Sarasota and North Port Department of Health locations, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Located at 2200 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota; 6950 Outreach Way, North Port.

A vaccination clinic at Venice City Hall will take place Friday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The clinic is offering Pfizer vaccines to those age 12 and up, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to those 18 and older. A second-dose clinic will return on Friday, June 18. Located at 401 W. Venice Ave.

The City of North Port will be hosting a vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 29 at the George Mullen Activity Center, located at 1602 Kramer Way. Those ages 12 and up can receive the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment needed. A second dose clinic will be held at North Port High School on Saturday, June 19.

As of Monday, May 24, 205,738 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 150,996 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

A state-run vaccination bus began administering the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, May 21 at the Robert L. Taylor Community Center. This bus will also visit MLK Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27 and the Boys & Girls Club, (1790 21st Street), on Wednesday, May 26. A vaccination clinic for ages 12 and older will take place this Saturday, May 22 at the Sarasota Square Mall. Ages 12-15 can receive the Pfizer vaccine without an appointment, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under age 18, and consent forms are required. Students with both doses of the vaccine will not be quarantined out of school or sports if they are exposed to Covid-19, unless they show symptoms.

On Monday, May 17 the Department of Health Sarasota County announced the Sarasota Kennel Club drive-thru testing site will remain open until further notice. The site will test anyone for Covid-19 regardless of symptoms. The site will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 5400 Old Bradenton Road, Sarasota.

As of Sunday, May 16, 198,103 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 145,361 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

On Sunday, May 16, Sarasota County's Covid-19 testing sites, the walk-up at Robert L. Taylor Community Complex and the drive-thru at the former Sarasota Kennel Club, will cease operations. The state-run sites will continue offering free tests until the end of May 16. All state-run testing sites in Florida are expected to close on Friday, May 28. City manager Marlon Brown says the reason for the closures is because on low demand. If you need to get tested, visit CVS, Walgreens and other local pharmacies.

Starting Monday, May 10, all Publix pharmacy locations will begin providing Covid-19 vaccination walk-ins. Customers 18 and older can choose between the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Customers can still schedule an appointment through the pharmacy's website if they'd like.

On Saturday, May 8, the Department of Health Sarasota began combining the first and second dose vaccination clinics at Sarasota Square Mall. It has become one single clinic for adults 18 and older. Both doses will be available without appointments. Clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As of Thursday, May 6, 182,171 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 129,890 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

On Tuesday, May 4, the U.S. Surgeon General announced that US citizens can text their ZIP code to 438829 (GETVAX) or 822862 (VACUNA) to find available vaccines nearby. Or, go to vaccines.gov or vacunas.gov for more information.

MD Now Urgent Care center in Manatee County will begin administering the Moderna vaccine for walk-in patients. Vaccines will be available while supply lasts. The clinic is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 4332 Cortez Rd. W., Bradenton.

As of Sunday, May 2, 174,549 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 125,334 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

On Saturday, May 1, the Sarasota Square Mall vaccination site will have 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine available for 16 and 17 year-olds. No appointment or registration necessary. A parent or guardian must be present for persons under age 18, and everyone must show valid ID. Individuals who have received the Pfizer vaccine and are in need of a second dose can attend this clinic.

As of Sunday, April 25, 159,883 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 111,537 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

On Friday, April 23, the FDA and CDC announced the lift of recommended pause on Johnson & Johnson vaccines nationwide. After an 11-day pause, due to rare occurrences of a blood clotting disorder in women aged 18 to 49, both agencies have deemed the vaccine safe and effective for continued use. Florida's federally-run vaccination sites have resumed its use in Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

On Saturday, April 24, Sarasota County will host a closed pop-up clinic for 16 and 17 year-olds at the Sarasota Square Mall vaccine site. The clinic will administer Pfizer vaccines, which is the only vaccine currently authorized for those 16 and older. Parents must come with the person receiving the vaccine to sign a consent form. As of Monday, April 12, 119,991 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 85,100 have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

On Monday, April 12, Manatee County will shut down its vaccine appointment registration system. The county will begin operating walk-ins when clinics are held. The first scheduled clinic is Wednesday, April 21. For those already in the registration system, appointments will still be made from Tuesday to Thursday, April 13-15. Tom Bennett park will continue to be the primary location for people to get the vaccine.

Sarasota County will begin vaccination walk-ins starting Friday, April 10. This will allow any adult in need of the Covid-19 vaccine to receive it at the Sarasota Square Mall without an appointment. Those who have already made an appointment can bypass the walk-in line. After this weekend, walk-ins will only be allowed on weekdays.

Beginning Tuesday, April 6, four state-supported vaccination sites will transition from the Pfizer to one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The sites are located in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami. Those in need of the second dose of Pfizer will still be able to receive it at these sites. By Monday, April 5, first doses of Pfizer will no longer be offered.

On Saturday, April 3, the state reported 4,822 new cases and Sarasota reported 82.

As of Friday, April 2, more than 187,000 people have received their Covid-19 vaccine in Sarasota County. The Sarasota County registration system is scheduling up to account number 206,782.

On Monday, March 29, the state reported 5,136 new cases and Sarasota reported 67. By Thursday, April 1, Sarasota County will be scheduling vaccination appointments up to account number 196,449.

On Monday, March 29, the Department of Health-Sarasota is operating a first and second-dose clinic at Sarasota Square Mall for those who have already received appointment notices last week. Moderna vaccines will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 30 and Wednesday, March 31, as well.

On Saturday, March 27, the state reported 4,865 new cases and Sarasota reported 93.

On Thursday, March 25, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Floridians age 40 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Beginning on Monday, April 5, all individuals age 18 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Pre-register here.

As of Tuesday, March 23, 73,455 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 47,116 people have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County. Vaccinations are being scheduled up to account number 181,824 in Sarasota County.

On Wednesday, March 24, a second vaccination clinic will open at Sarasota Square Mall, offering first and second-dose clinic operations. The new clinic will be located 150 steps further inside the mall. Those who arrive for an appointment will be directed by signs to the appropriate clinic. Blue signs indicate the first-dose clinic and green signs indicate the second-dose clinic.

As of Monday, March 22, 71,649 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 46,146 have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County. Vaccinations are being scheduled up to 170,029 in Sarasota County.

As of Monday, March 22, Floridians age 50 and older can register for a Covid-19 vaccine, per an executive order announced by Governor DeSantis. Those in Sarasota County will receive an account number and subsequent appointment after registering. In both Sarasota and Manatee County, residents age 18 and older can add their name to the registration systems, and wait until they are eligible for vaccination.

On Sunday, March 20, the state reported 3,994 new cases and Sarasota reported 56.

Manatee County is opening its Covid-19 vaccine registration list to people age 55 and older in a matter of days. Getting your name on the list will not ensure an appointment, as vaccines are reserved for people age 60 and older in both Sarasota and Manatee County. Click here to register.

As of Tuesday, March 16, 63,510 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 39,428 have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

As of Tuesday, March 16, more than 20,000 people have registered for the Covid-19 vaccine in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Sarasota reported 17,300 people had registered in the county's system since noon on Monday. In Manatee, 4,684 people had registered since Monday morning.

On Monday, March 15, the state reported 4,832 new cases and Sarasota reported 66.

The state will host a pop-up drive thru vaccine clinic in North Port on Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16. The clinic, located at Suncoast Technical College, will vaccinate about 6,000 people registered in Sarasota County's online system. As of Friday, March 12, the system was scheduling appointments up to account number 128,910.

On Saturday, March 13, the state reported 3,798 new cases and Sarasota reported 48.

On Friday, March 12, the state reported 5,134 new cases and Sarasota reported 57.

On Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m., Sarasota County's vaccine registration system will be locked to new applicants, in preparation for the launch of an updated system on Monday, March 15. Individuals age 60 and older will be eligible for vaccination beginning Monday, and those age 18 and older can register on the updated system, awaiting eligibility for vaccination. They will not receive an account number until eligibility is granted by the state.

On Thursday, March 11, the School District of Manatee County announced that it will distribute 4,000 vaccines to district employees during the next week. One thousand single dose Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccines will be administered at Braden River High School on Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for district employees age 50 and older. Three thousand Moderna vaccinations will be administered to district employees of all ages on Monday, March 15 and Wednesday, March 17 at MCR Health. Employees must make appointments through the district's online appointment system.

On Tuesday, March 9, the state reported 4,869 new cases and Sarasota reported 75.

On Tuesday, March 9, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that CVS Health will administer Covid-19 vaccines at 76 additional CVS Pharmacy locations across Florida. This is in addition to the 81 stores already offering the vaccine. Individuals wishing to get vaccinated must register at CVS.com.

On Monday, March 8, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that those age 60 and older will be able to get Covid-19 vaccines beginning next week. This new age of eligibility will allow about 1.4 million more Floridians a chance to be vaccinated. So far, about 56 percent of those 65 and older have received the vaccine in Florida. 

As of Friday, March 5, 44,236 people have been fully vaccinated in Sarasota County and 27,818 have been fully vaccinated in Manatee County.

About 21,000 vaccine doses will arrive to Sarasota and Manatee counties this week, and Sarasota County is planning about 2,000 appointments per day for clinics.

On Tuesday, March 2, the state reported 5,555 new cases and Sarasota reported 92.

On Monday, March 1, the state reported 7,043 new cases and Sarasota reported 51.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, the state reported 1,807 new cases and Sarasota reported 20.

On Saturday, Feb. 27, the state reported 5,425 new cases and Sarasota reported 84.

On Friday, Feb. 26, the state reported 5,456 new cases and Sarasota reported 54.

On Thursday, Feb. 25, the state reported 5,911 new cases and Sarasota reported 70.

On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the state reported 6,543 new cases and Sarasota reported 76.

The City of Sarasota will hold a vaccination clinic this weekend, (Feb. 27-28), at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Four thousand doses will be distributed to people waiting in the county's registration system. Those registered will be notified later this week regarding appointment date and time.

On Tuesday, Feb. 23, the state reported 7,087 new cases and Sarasota reported 76.

On Monday, Feb. 22, the state reported 5,566 new cases and Sarasota reported 51.

As of Sunday, Feb. 21, 71,395 people have been vaccinated in Sarasota County and 44,940 have been vaccinated in Manatee County. The state reported 4,092 new cases and Sarasota reported 73.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County hosted its first pop-up vaccination clinic in the Newtown neighborhood. Four hundred people were vaccinated at the Light of the World International Church.

On Saturday, Feb. 20, the state reported 4,980 new cases and Sarasota reported 34.

On Friday, Feb. 19, the state reported 7,121 new cases and Sarasota reported 98.

On Thursday, Feb. 18, the state reported 6,631 new cases and Sarasota reported 111.

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the state reported 5,046 new cases and Sarasota reported 34. 

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the state reported 7,223 new cases and Sarasota reported 115.

Manatee County has canceled vaccine clinics scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19, and will move appointments in place to next week. The shortage of vaccines are due to the winter storms occurring in the country. This will not affect the clinic in Lakewood Ranch.

Lakewood Ranch will host a three day vaccination clinic from Wednesday, Feb. 17-Friday, Feb. 19. The clinic, which will distribute 3,ooo doses, will be located at Premier Sports Campus and will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone who is registered in Manatee County's vaccine stand-by system will be randomly chosen for appointments.

On Monday, Feb. 15, the state reported 6,705 new cases and Sarasota reported 55.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, the state reported 3,787 new cases and Sarasota reported 30.

On Saturday, Feb. 13, the state reported 5,813 new cases and Sarasota reported 37.

On Friday, Feb. 12, the state reported 7,092 new cases and Sarasota reported 62. 

On Thursday, Feb. 11, the state reported 7,473 new cases and Sarasota reported 68.

As of Wednesday, Feb. 10, the CDC recommends double-masking in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Wearing a cloth mask over a medical procedure mask is now advised. For more information, click here.

Governor DeSantis has announced a new community vaccination event will occur in Charlotte County on Feb. 11- Feb. 13, in partnership with Neal Communities. The drive-thru event will administer 1,000 vaccinations from Thursday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at King's Gate neighborhood in Port Charlotte.

As of Wednesday, Feb. 10, vaccinations were scheduled up to number 15,960 in Sarasota County. The state reported 8,351 new cases and Sarasota reported 97.

3,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were sent to the Venice Community Center on Wednesday, Feb. 10, as part of a three-day vaccination event.

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Governor Ron DeSantis announced a new Covid-19 vaccination site will open at the Venice Community Center in Sarasota County. Publix supermarkets in Sarasota and Manatee counties will begin administering Covid-19 vaccines. The chain added 269 stores to its list of 539 in the state offering vaccinations. Appointments can be made starting Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 a.m. Register for an appointment here.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the state reported 7,458 new cases and Sarasota reported 134.

On, Monday, Feb. 8, the state reported 7,041 new cases and Sarasota reported 68.

As of Sunday, Feb. 7, 50,358 people have been vaccinated in Sarasota County and 32,842 have been vaccinated in Manatee County.

Publix and Winn Dixie pharmacies in Manatee County will begin administering the Covid-19 vaccine as early as Thursday, Feb. 11. Each store, (17 Publix locations and one Winn Dixie location), will receive about 384 doses per week. Vaccines will be provided through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Sarasota County pharmacies have yet to be announced.

On Sunday, Feb. 7, the state reported 5,640 new cases and Sarasota reported 55. 

Manatee County is setting 5,100 Covid-19 vaccine appointments for this week. Manatee currently has 157,744 seniors on its stand-by list, and Sarasota has more than 123,000 accounts registered in its online system.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, the state reported 6,690 new cases and Sarasota reported 82.

The Department of Health Sarasota County announced it will receive 7,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine next week. The doses will go towards those in need of their first shot. Those who got their first shot between Jan. 8 and Jan. 15 will be contacted on Thursday about scheduling a follow-up dose. 

On Friday, Feb. 5, the state reported 7,381 new cases and Sarasota reported 82. 

On Thursday, Feb. 4, the state reported 10,855 new cases and Sarasota reported 92.

On Wednesday, Feb. 3, the state reported 7,541 new cases and Sarasota reported 93.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the state reported 6,771 new cases and Sarasota reported 48.

Walmart and Sam's Club will begin administering Covid-19 vaccines at both pharmacies next week, thanks to the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Pharmacies in 22 states, including Florida, have been selected to administer the vaccine at no cost. Sarasota and Manatee county locations have not yet been announced. As of Tuesday, Feb. 2, 41,939 Sarasota County residents and 27,155 Manatee County residents have received a Covid-19 vaccine.

 On Monday, Feb. 1, the state reported 10,385 new cases and Sarasota reported 168.

On Saturday, Jan. 30, the state reported 7,670 new cases and Sarasota reported 101.

As of Thursday, Jan. 28, more than 61,000 people in Sarasota and Manatee counties have received at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, the Florida Department of Health Sarasota County launched a new account numbering system through its Everbridge vaccine registration system, allowing citizens to know where they are in line for the vaccine. Each number will be located on the account's login page, and will be updated as they get closer to an appointment date.

Publix Supermarkets is reopening its vaccine appointment system, beginning Friday, Jan. 29 at 6 a.m. The store will allow 38,000 people to register at one of 240 pharmacies with the vaccine. Seven stores are in Charlotte County, none are in Manatee or Sarasota counties yet.

On Wednesday, Jan. 27, the state reported 11,326 new cases and Sarasota reported 87.

On Wednesday, Jan. 27, the Florida Department of Health Sarasota County announced it will move its primary vaccination site to Sarasota Square Mall. Vaccines will be administered inside one of the mall's empty store fronts, and the site entrance will be through the former Sears department store. The date of this transition has not been announced.

As of Tuesday, Jan. 26, 56,639 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the Florida Department of Health Sarasota County announced the county received 7,300 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. The first 1,000 doses will go to those awaiting an initial dose on the county's appointment system waiting list. They will have appointments beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27. The remaining 3,500 will be set aside for those in need of the second dose required of the Moderna vaccine.

On Monday, Jan. 25, the state reported 9,480 new cases and Sarasota reported 87.

On Sunday, Jan. 24, the state reported 8,607 new cases and Sarasota reported 70.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the state reported 9,432 new cases and Sarasota reported 86.

On Friday, Jan. 22, the state reported 12,138 new cases and Sarasota reported 114.

Sarasota and Manatee counties reported 61 new deaths due to Covid-19, according to the Florida Department of Health.

On Thursday, Jan. 21, the state reported 13,435 new cases and Sarasota reported 334.

Florida is now requiring proof of residency for those receiving the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Individuals must present either a valid Florida drivers license or ID, or a copy of two documents that show a residential address. For more information, click here.

Sarasota County's new vaccine appointment system went live on Wednesday, Jan. 20. The new system allows residents to pre-register for an account online or by phone. More than 50,000 people registered in the system within an hour of opening. 3,300 vaccinations will be made Thursday and Friday of this week. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 19, Manatee County received 3,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. The state reported 11,615 new cases and Sarasota reported 132.

The Manatee County Department of Health will begin calling residents registered in the county's standby pool. Residents will be randomly selected to set up an appointment to receive the vaccine on Thursday, Jan. 21 and Friday, Jan. 22 at Bennett Park, 280 Kay Rd., Bradenton. Six hundred of the doses will go to health care workers and the remaining 2,400 will go to residents 65 and older.

On Sunday, Jan. 17, the state reported 7,884 new cases and Sarasota reported 93.

Sarasota County has announced its new appointment system will be released Wednesday, Jan. 20. The system will allow residents 65 and older to call or use a mobile app or computer to register for a spot to receive a vaccination when doses are available. Unlike Manatee County's standby pool, this system will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In Sarasota, 24,990 have been vaccinated, with 723 receiving both doses. In Manatee, 16,421 have been vaccinated, with 464 receiving both doses.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the state reported 13,660 new cases and Sarasota reported 117.

More than 33,000 people in Sarasota and Manatee County have received the Covid-19 vaccine. Both counties have surpassed 1,000 combined deaths due to Covid-19 since the pandemic began last year.

On Monday, Jan. 11, the state reported 14,602 new cases and Sarasota reported 265.

Sarasota County schools have reported 322 new Covid-19 cases among students and staff since the return from winter break. Prior to break, 608 total cases were reported, and now there are 930, with 255 students and 67 staff members testing positive in one week. Manatee County schools have yet to see a spike, with only 20 new cases reported on Monday, Jan. 11. However, the school system is bracing for potential increase.

On Sunday, Jan. 10, the state reported 12,307 new cases and Sarasota reported 180.

More than 50 percent of total vaccinations administered in the state have been for individuals 65 and older. Last week, more than 223,000 Florida seniors were vaccinated, and the vaccination rate continues to increase.

Sarasota and Manatee County each received 1,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday, Jan. 11. More vaccination dates and locations will be announced later this week. So far, approximately 10,000 have been vaccinated in Manatee and 15,000 in Sarasota. 85,400 people have also entered Manatee County's standby pool.

On Thursday, Jan. 7, the state reported 19,904 new cases and Sarasota reported 245.

Manatee County launched its vaccine lottery website. To enter, register online or call Manatee County's call center number, 311. Once registered in the standby pool, randomized groups of people will be selected for appointment dates and times. The website was created to manage the influx of vaccine registrations.

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, the state reported 17,342 new cases and Sarasota reported 295.

Sarasota Memorial Hospital will host a vaccination event on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Sunday, Jan. 10, vaccinating 3,000 people age 65 and older with the hospital's supply of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine. Appointment registration begins on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 3:30 p.m. Click here to register.  

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the state reported 15,193 new cases and Sarasota reported 399.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Publix supermarkets will be offering the Covid-19 vaccine across 22 locations in Ocala, Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties. Vaccinations will begin on Friday, Jan. 8 and are by appointment only.

On Monday, Jan. 4, the state reported 11,201 new cases and Sarasota reported 333.

More than 6,000 people in Sarasota County have received the Covid-19 vaccine, and more than 4,000 have received it in Manatee County. On Monday, 1,600 Covid-19 vaccination appointments were booked in Sarasota County by the Florida Department of Health, and within 15 minutes, 800 slots per day were filled. On Wednesday, Jan. 6, and Thursday, Jan. 7, 1,200 vaccines will be distributed in Bradenton at Bennett Park to those who have booked an appointment.

These numbers do not include vaccinations that have occurred in long-term care facilities and hospitals. Those eligible for vaccination in both counties are long-term care facility patients and staff, those 65 years of age or older and frontline health care workers.

If you're able to make an appointment, fill out the Covid-19 Vaccine Screening and Consent Form found on each department's website, and bring it to the appointment with a registration ticket and valid ID. You must remain within your county to receive a second round of the shot 28 days after your first appointment.

New vaccination opportunities and dates will be announced when the counties receive more vaccines.
