The Sarasota County Commission recently approved funding for 39 local arts and cultural organizations recommended by the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County. The money for the grants, which totals nearly $2.1 million, comes from tourist tax collections and is intended to be spent to produce, present and promote cultural and arts activities that appeal to tourists.
