Therapy Horses Changing Lives.
InStride Therapy, Inc. located on 62 acres in Nokomis, provides a unique and highly effective program called hippotherapy. InStride uses specially trained physical, occupational and speech therapists who partner with highly skilled horses to improve the sensory, neuromotor and cognitive abilities of the rider. This is part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional goals. The 3-D movement of the horse mimics a person’s walking gait. No other tool will do that. The majority of InStride clients range from 18 months to 15 years (but there is no age limit), and include people with cerebral palsy, developmental delay, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease and autism spectrum disorder.
In addition, InStride is home to the Sarasota County Special Olympic equestrian team, host of Reading With Little Red literacy program for K-Grade 1 children, and a unique “Day at the Barn” program for adults.
