Worth the Trip: Tampa Museum of Art Presents CITY: Fashion + Art + Culture

Fashion lovers, head north to the Tampa Museum of Art to see 25 iconic Norma Kamali looks, from her parachute gowns to bold silver-studded ensembles.

No need to travel to NYC for the latest fashion exhibit. Just head north on I-275 to the Tampa Bay Museum of Art, where you'll find Norma Kamali's retrospective, CITY: Fashion + Art + Culture. The iconic American fashion designer, who is of Lebanese and Basque Spanish descent, is best known for her innovative Sleeping Bag coat, high-heeled sneakers, parachute garments and flattering, versatile multi-use pieces.

 Also, did you know that Kamali designed the red one-piece bathing suit worn by Farrah Fawcett in the iconic 1976 Charlie's Angels poster?

The multimedia exhibit of Kamali's 25 ground breaking fashions, which represent decades of her career, is on view through September 25. But be sure to get your tix for TMA's signature fundraising event, CITY, on September 24, which features a coveted Kamali runway show with iconic designs that span her 50-year career, as well as new designs, all on the heels of New York Fashion Week.
