Suncoast Charities for Children, the nonprofit that produces the annual Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival, released data showing that this year's event generated $37.2 million in economic impact, an increase from $32 million last year. According to the research, which was conducted by Visit Sarasota County, this year's event generated 18,300 nights of hotel bookings in the area. Suncoast Charities is expected to net more than $100,000 from the event; the 501(c)(3) provides annual grants to the Suncoast Foundation in support of children, teens and adults with special needs and their families.
