The host committee for the 2017 World Rowing Championships recently launched a competition to name the event's pelican mascot. All name submissions must be gender-neutral; the deadline to submit is 11:59 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. Once submissions have been collected, there will be a selection process, with the list narrowed down to five names. The final name will be picked by online voting.
