Insula Companies (insulacompanies.com), a Sarasota-based firm specializing in apartment community acquisition and revitalization, recently purchased Orlando’s Glenn Apartments. The $42 million purchase is the company’s largest project to date and marks its first strategic acquisition in 2016 and the 25th since the firm began operations in 2009.

Ian Black Real Estate (ian-black.com) has relocated to 1 S. School Ave., Suite 600, in downtown Sarasota’s Kane Plaza. The company recently completed the sale of its old Rosemary District space at 1075 Central Ave., Sarasota. Global Expeditions Group (globalexpeditionsgroup.com) purchased the property for $510,000 and plans to move its offices there. Global Expeditions offers international travel experiences to teenagers and college students. Through the company, 500 Central, LLC, Ian Black also purchased the property at 500 Central Ave., Sarasota, from RH Property Holdings, for just over $1 million.

Crossman & Company (crossmanco.com), a retail leasing, management and investment sales firm, recently completed six lease agreements at Englewood’s Lemon Bay Shopping Center and Merchants Crossing. Senior associate Sandra Woodworth negotiated a long-term renewal with Big Lots, which occupies 36,464 square feet at Lemon Bay Shopping Center. A new lease at Lemon Bay for 3,980 square feet was also signed by Norma Jeans, a sports grill. Cinidyne Sales renewed its lease of 3,095 square feet and a lease renewal agreement for 1,450 square feet was completed with Simply Yum Yum, a local bakery. At Merchants Crossing, Senior Associate Tracy Worrell completed two new lease agreements: Englewood Jewelry and Gold leased 1,200 square feet and Great Clips leased 1,225 square feet.
